Avalon Dance and Fitness was originally founded in 2010. Current owner Peter Walker took over in October 2014 and has created a thriving dance community here in Belmont.
Avalon which rebranded to Avalon Dance Productions in 2019 offers private ballroom dance lessons for all levels from wedding couples first dance, social dancing and competitive level dancing from amateur to professional.
Located at 173 Belmont St, Belmont it’s accessible by train into Waverley or the 173 bus that goes to and from Harvard. Avalon also has designated parking spaces and ample street parking.



Charlotte Jorgensen will be coaching on Friday Sep 4th.
Charlotte Jorgensen is a Danish-born ballroom icon celebrated for her musicality, classic line, and uncompromising technique. Trained from childhood across ballet, jazz, and ballroom, she rose quickly through Europe’s elite ranks and became World Amateur Ballroom Champion before turning professional.
As a professional competitor, Jorgensen captivated audiences on the world’s biggest floors—Blackpool, the UK Open, and the European and World Championships—consistently finaling and claiming major titles. Her partnership with Andrew Sinkinson is especially remembered for its elegance, clarity of footwork, and seamless interpretation of Standard’s five dances.
Beyond competition, Charlotte’s artistry has reached mainstream audiences. She served as Richard Gere’s dance coach for the feature film Shall We Dance? and appeared on the inaugural season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, finishing as runner-up with John O’Hurley and later winning the show’s rematch special.
Today, Jorgensen is a sought-after international coach, adjudicator, and choreographer. She mentors top amateurs and professionals alike, emphasizing timing, posture, and the “through-the-music” quality that defined her own career. Whether in lecture, private coaching, or on a showcase stage, Charlotte Jorgensen continues to set the standard for ballroom grace—showing dancers how to turn precise mechanics into living, breathing artistry.

She is a World Class Adjudicator & Coach, and Co Organizer of the Capitol Dancesport Championships.

is certified as a Fellow in International Ballroom, International Latin, American Ballroom, American Rhythm and Theater Arts with the United States Terpsichore Association (USTA) and is also a Championship Adjudicator.
